Refocus LDN
Photo Series
An unpublished photo series created with the view to make the audience stop, think and refocus, urging them to rediscover the city that they live in. This project looks at changing perspectives, making people look differently at the city that they see everyday.
The photo series is a photo log consisting of twenty six images of a journey of the south of the river from Lambeth Bridge to Tower Bridge. Pictures were taken on identical points along the Thames by day and by night showing London like it’s never been seen before, using the Japanese light blurring technique, Bokeh.
The images of London captured in daylight are in hues of grey, however by night the depictions gave the capital a magical outline of radiating colour. This led to the exploration of a third option - superimposing the day and night images, giving birth to a panorama of surreal, ethereal images with no defined sense of time and a hazy subject. The project resulted in three sets of imagery. Three books were produced which optionally open to display the whole stretch of the Thames and are accompanied by a DVD.
